Re-enactor Program

The 14th Indiana Co A. Takes part in 5 or 6 company sanctioned re-enactments each year. One event is the annual battle in June at Billie Creek, Rockville, Ind. Other events will be announced as information is received. The events we attend are open to discussion among the members. Company A is unique in that we travel to events throughout the eastern United States. Focus is on major North-South events and battles where the 14th served. In the last few years the unit has attended Anteitam, Gettysburg, Brandy Station, Chickamauga, Mill Springs, and Resaca. Co A. 14th IND. is a member of the Great Lakes BDE.

Membership in the unit is $15/year. Food and powder costs are determined for each event. Event fees vary from $5 to $15 for registration. The units has some spare equipment to let soldiers try reenacting before committing money for equipment.

Age and Gender

Because the 14th was an early volunteer unit in the war, the unit does not accept female soldiers in the ranks. However, we do have a very active civilian element.

The age to carry a weapon for most re-enactments is sixteen. To be on the battlefield the age limit is twelve for functioning musicians.  There can be exceptions to this but only on a case-by-case basis.
